HUDSON COMMUNITY FARM

Re-activating municipal agricultural land: connecting with heritage, building resilience.

ABOUT THE FARM

The Hudson Community Farm is a project of the Hudson Food Collective in partnership with the town of Hudson (Qc).

Local, Ecological,
Community-Driven
Micro-Farming

Picture

A community farm where young farmers will grow a diversified selection of vegetables, fruits, flowers, and herbs as well as raise poultry for the community. Ecological practices will be used to enhance food sovereignty, while offering educational and community building opportunities.
We feel that such a project has the potential to respond to multiple needs in the community namely: local ecological agriculture/micro farming, access to locally grown quality produce, community integration, education, farmer succession, land stewardship, agricultural heritage preservation, economic development, eco-tourism, innovative solutions, community food security, and celebration of cultural assets and heritage.

The Hudson Food Collective is a non-profit organisation working to strengthen and support the development of a food system that is ecological, healthful and just,
locally in Hudson (QC) and beyond.

MEET THE TEAM

We are young people that want to farm to feed our community,
while having positive social, environmental and economic impacts on our surroundings.
We are passionate about this work which brings forth such joy in our lives and we would like to
open our fields to the population of Hudson and surrounding region for all to enjoy, learn, play and gather.

through our work-exchange arrangement (2018 onwards)(exchanging weekly farm labor, or a specialized task).

COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE

This year the farm is offering you 38 different vegetables for you to enjoy. Among these crops there will be 79 varies cultivated to ensure a biodiversity that will increase the soil health as well as your own!

ORDER CSA BASKET FOR 2017
There will be a gift-a-basket option for those who wish
to subsidize the cost of a vegetable basket for a family in need.
WHAT IS A CSA?
An alternative, locally based economic model of agriculture and food distribution.
CSA members, or subscribers, pay at the onset of the growing season for a share of the anticipated harvest;
once harvesting begins, they periodically receive shares of produce.
In this way growers and consumers share the risks and benefits of food production.
